A veteran-owned business in Destin, Florida, Grey Aviation Advisors and Solutions, Inc., provides integrated air and ground solutions through a team of experienced military-trained instructors and former Special Operations pilots. Grey Aviation belongs to the Air Command Association (ACA), which offers a number of flight scholarships to students in the aviation field. Available scholarships include the Ray Bourque Service Scholarship.
The Ray Bourque Service Scholarship celebrates commitment to humanitarian and veteran support efforts through a $2,000 grant open to high school seniors with membership in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) and Civil Air Patrol (CAP). Recipients include members in good standing with an evident history of contributions to veteran groups and humanitarian efforts. The scholarship is named for Ray Bourque, who personified the Air Commando ethos of Quiet Professional with his unhesitating dedication to veterans and the community.
In addition to being in good standing with AFJROTC and CAP, applicants must receive recommendation from a principal, guidance counselor, or JR ROTC or CAP instructor, coach, or teacher. Eligible students include those with at least a 2.5 grade-point-average who demonstrate college-level abilities. Scholarship funds are applied toward tuition at an institution of higher learning. Submission materials include a completed application and a letter of recommendation.
The selection committee consists of three Senior Enlisted members of the Air Commando Association with no relation to the applicants. Their decision is based on several factors, including verification of eligibility, scholastic achievements, and involvement in extracurricular activities.
